Volunteers
Volunteering is a benefit to the individual as well as to an organization. Community Services of Starke County could not operate without the assistance of volunteers. Below are a list of ways you can help.
All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application which includes permission to consent to a criminal background check. Please call (574) 772-7070 for a volunteer application or CLICK HERE for the application. Thank you for considering donating your time, talent and treasures. Jobs with the Community Services of Starke County, involve contact with the elderly, disabled and children and are expected to fill out a criminal background check form. You can call (574) 772-7070 for the form or CLICK HERE for the form.

Ways You Can Help
Food Pantry
Volunteers greet clients, explain the food pantry, check for eligibility, assist in the food pantry, and weigh food in and out. Volunteer hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Can you give us one day per week? Call (574) 772-7070 for a volunteer application or CLICK HERE for the application.
Rummage Sale
We hold two sales a year. Donation of items is accepted, but we can use individuals to help display the items, and help clerk. Call (574) 772-7070 for a volunteer application or CLICK HERE for the application. Crafters are also welcome at the senior centers. Lessons are given, and items made are donated to the craft sale. The funds help support the senior centers.
Receptionists
Volunteer receptionists answer the telephones and greet clients. If you are a people-person, friendly, compassionate and understanding, you may be of assistance to us as a receptionist. Call (574) 772-7070 for a volunteer application or or CLICK HERE for the application.
Elderly Services Program
These programs which include congregate meals, and some transportation require a match of 20%. Monetary contributions are welcome, but volunteers with creative or musical talents are invited to work with our clients as entertainment or to engage them in creative outlets. Call (574) 772-7070 for a volunteer application or or CLICK HERE for the application.
Food Pantry Donations
Food pantry requires we distribute the same poundage of donated items as we give out from the government commodities. Therefore, we need donated food items, toiletries, and cash to purchase meat. Donations are accepted at 311 E Culver Road, Knox, IN 46534. Monetary donations can be made at the Culver Road address or via our website on the Donate page.
Financial Contributions
Donations are also needed to match the federal and state funding we receive from various organizations. You can donate directly to us. Contributions may also be donated to Starke United Fund or the Starke County Community Foundation and designated to Community Services of Starke County. Call (574) 772-7070 to inquire about making a donation, visit our Culver Road office to donate in person, or visit the Donate page of our website.
Thank you for considering donating your time, talent and treasures.
Thanks to our volunteers!
